I don't sell Mary Kay, but I do sell Arbonne... It depends on what you consider "decent money" and how much time you want to put into it. I have a full time job and 4 kids, so I don't have that many hours per month. The goal is to build my business so I can work less, it's getting there!
I tried selling Mary Kay about 4 yrs ago, I was not successful because I was not good at getting parties and marketing myself. I did not want to harass my friends, and had no clue how to make it work.
I know someone about my age that sells Mary Kay, supports her entire family (DH and 4 kids) and that is all she does. She makes a LOT of money. She is happy to share how much because she wants even more people to join her team and it is staggering!
That said, I also know several others who have tried it without a huge amount of success. I am not sure what the key is because at least two who have tried are VERY pretty and personable like her and they weren't able to get off the ground floor with it. I guess it is like what pp said and it is all about how much time and effort you put into it.
