How to get DH to contribute to the hospital bag...

Tell him you had contractions all night long, but not regular enough to go in to L&D.

I let my H sleep last night since he had an early morning, but dang! These contractions were much stronger than the regular BH contractions that I usually get. These started in my back and wrapped around front. The first hour they were about 5 minutes apart, so I went downstairs, drank a ton of water, walked around and then went back to bed. The second hour they went up to 8 minutes apart, and the 3rd hour they were about 15. So when he woke up for work I told him about my fun night. He automatically went to the closet and starting packing his clothes for the hospital bag. I think it's finally hitting him that we need to be ready from here on out...

So now I sit here at work, wondering if I can make it 3 more days till summer break. Ugh.

  • MH was the same way!  Well sort of....

I had a few maybe contractions the other night and he said "well, I guess I better head out to Target.  We still need all the stuff for your bag".  Mine didn't last that long so he didn't actually go but he said he's been thinking about packing more and more lately.

  • I wish that would get my DH moving!  I had some contractions last night that I told him about- he was just kind of like, "oh, that's good"- I guess he'll just throw something together when it gets serious !  At least we don't live too far from the hospital...

I may try this! My bag is packed and ready to go...but DH is dragging his feet. I threw a pair of his nike shorts, a tee shirt and 2 pairs of his socks in my bag just in case.

  • Well my DH doesn't like being caught off guard so he was actually the one reminding me check stuff off the list of items given to us during our prenatal class.
But way to get your DH going with the hospital bag. hehe

  • My DH is the one that got me going a few weeks ago. He hasn't packed his bag yet but we live only 15 min from the hospital and he'll probably run home if he needs anything. I'm going to sneak underwear and a toothbrush into my bag for him just incase.
