mommy and me movies?

I just learned through a friends that next tuesday during the day there is a "mommy and me" showing of Bridesmaids at the Potomac Yard regal cinemas, where lights are dimmer, sound a bit lower, and kids are free so parents can enjoy a show while little ones eat or play in strollers, or nap - and noise is ok.

Has anyone been to one with friends or on their own? What ages have you seen with a parent? My guess is a young baby who would sleep would be easiest, but was wondering if my 11 month old, who's content if I am able to keep interacting with her and bring some snacks and toys, would do ok - especially if there were other kids for her to watch too! And where do I find if more are listed, or with other theaters? I couldn't seem to find it listed on the individual website. My husband travels often for longer periods and a little break to be in a movie theater again would be a treat! Thanks in advance..

  • I'm not sure about the appropriate age range, but you could call the theater and ask. I know the AFI theater in Silver Spring also has "mommy and baby" movies on Fridays, but that's probably a little far for you to go.

I have been to one-- out in Fairfax I think. Anyway I was really excited to see Eat, Pray, Love. DD was around 6-8 months old and it was hard for me. We left about 1/2 way through. Personally I think it has more to do with the baby's personality than it does with the age. My LO is too much of a mover and shaker.
