I occasionally have been looking at cribs online-- getting a feel for what style and color we want. I know it's too early to buy anything, but it's on the brain for sure!
When do you plan on buying the nursery furniture? What if there's a super deal on the kind you want this summer? Would you consider getting it early anyways? Are you doing a ton of research on types?
Sounds silly, but I feel like I'm going to get the "wrong" kind. There's so many different types out there, I want a really good one-- but also a good price. 2nd time mom's-- where did you buy your crib from?
Re: Cribs!!!
we found our crib during our first pregnancy last fall/winter at the scratch/dent outlett for a local expensive baby store. we got it for less than half because there was a small scratch on one of the sides. it was worth it to us to buy that and the dresser early ($1200 dresser for $400 again due to small scratch) as we are on a budgett but still want quality furnature. up to you though, i'm now going to have to see a room with dust coverd furnature for the secon m/c in 6 mo...

We have the Graco Lauren convertable crib in Espresso. It truly is a beautiful piece of furniture. We are hoping DS will be ready for a toddler bed when this LO comes along, but if not, we already know we will buy another Graco Lauren.
ETA: Sorry, forgot to answer the other part of your question. MIL bought it as our shower gift, and I think she got it at Target, but it may have been BRU.
We'll probably pick something out this summer, as I don't work in the summers (I'm a teacher) and DH only works a couple days a week, so we'll have time to really look around. We probably won't buy it this summer though, and will probably wait until sometime in the fall.

I"m planning on shopping this summer, as I'm not working over the summer. Not sure if I'll be buying anything yet, or just figuring out what I want and waiting for a good sale.
I know I like the sleigh style, and I want something that is a convertible- to a toddler bed or even headboard/footboard. I'm thinking about going to Target, because I know my brother and sister-in-law got theirs from there for their first kid and they liked the quality. But I'm also going to be shopping around at other baby stores.

We got the Baby Mod Cadence crib in Espresso from Wal-Mart for DS. The Baby Mod cribs are the same as the Davinci cribs at Target, but cheaper (same manufacturer, just sold under different names at different stores). We love it, and it converts to a toddler bed and full size headboard and footboard. He's still in it as a crib now, and even if we make the transition to a toddler bed by the time this baby comes, it will be the same piece of furniture, so we will get another crib for the new baby. I've been looking a little bit at cribs this time, and I don't know if we'll go with something similar to DS's or not. I kind of like the Ikea cribs, which are inexpensive and have good reviews. I do like their simple designs.
Another good thing about the Wal-Mart cribs - you can order online and get free shipping to the store, then you just pick it up.
