first u/s and measuring a week behind...

Just got back from my first u/s and I'm happy that they were able to find a heartbeat, but really upset that I'm measuring 6 weeks instead of 7. I was so upset that the doctor said she would like to see me in 1 week to check again. This week cannot go by fast enought! Anyone measure small and everything turn out okay? I really need some assurance. TIA

    I'm pretty sure about the dates because we had to do IVF. I'm hoping its just a "technical" issue, but its so hard not to worry and constantly think about it.

    I was having some right sided pain so they did an ultrasound at what I thought was 5 weeks 3 days, but I only measured at 4 weeks 4 days. I was pretty freaked out because I charted and knew when I ovulated so I knew that I was probably only 5 weeks, but the nurse reminded me fertilization and implantation most likely didn't occur on that day so I was probably right on track with the 4weeks 4days. I went back yesterday ( a week later) and measured at 5 weeks 5 days and saw a heartbeat! We can all say don't worry about it, but you probably will. Take some comfort in knowing that you saw a heartbeat. Because it is so early on, the measurements are difficult to get and you will most likely have a growing baby in there on the next visit!

    When I had my first u/s I thought I was 7 weeks and ended up measuring 5 weeks 6 days. Although I thought it sucked because I wanted to be further along, as long as your baby's heartbeat looks strong and is growing then no worries. Everything will be fine!

    I too went through IVF....my third u/s was on 7w6d and Baby A measured in at 7w2d and Baby B measured in at 7w4d....I was told there was absolutely nothing to worry about and was released to see my regular OB for a 10 week appointment.  I hope this helps.

    thanks everyone.  I feel better now.  I'm sure I'll stress now and again, but there's nothing I can do except hope, pray and wait.
