Direct quote about Obama that I heard at the pharmacy

"these prescription costs are killing me.  I'll be glad when Obama becomes president so I don't have to pay for my scripts anymore"

Poor lady has set herself up for a huge disappointment.  She was paying $4 for her prescriptions mind you.

  • Free drugs for everyone!!   AWESOME

  • Unfortunately, I think a lot of folks are going to be disappointed when/if Obama is elected.  I don't think it's going to be all that is anticipated.

  • Um hello? Haven't you heard? He's also going to pay your mortgage and put gas in your tank. Woot!

  • Free everything.  Fo' free.
  • That is part of 'spreading the wealth,' right?

Oh hell yeah, that reminds me.  My friend said that her husband called her and said, "I heard on the radio that if Obama is elected he's going to send everybody a check for $250,000.  That's a new house to some people."  Um er uh, FAIL!

  • I think there's gonna be a lot of disappointed people if Obama gets elected.  Although having said that, he will have a democratic powered Congress to back him up.

I also think if he is successful in implementing universal healthcare then alot of people will see that it is not all it's made out to be.

You said it.  If he wins I'm moving to Canada! LOLsies!

But no, I couldn't agree with you more.

  • In all seriousness, they're both making promises they won't be able to keep. It's going to be an up hill battle for either candidate to make significant changes in the next four years. I mean face it - they're spend two years just getting acclimated and the latter two campaigning again.

Unfortunately, I think there are many delusional people who have bought into the hype and that makes me both sad and scared.

  • There are many naive...aka stupid...people in the world and a lot of them live in the United States with voting rights.  One woman thinks if Obama wins she won't have to work to pay for gas, her car or her mortgage and she was totally serious.  I actually heard her say this to a news reporter.  Good Lord!!
  • Goose, I couldn't agree with you more!  Well said!
  • As scary as it is that some people think they're going to get their $4 perscriptions for free, I think this is a lot worse:

"My answer is bring them on."-On Iraqi insurgents attacking U.S. forces, George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., July 3, 2003

"We've got hundreds of sites to exploit, looking for the chemical and biological weapons that we know Saddam Hussein had prior to our entrance into Iraq." -George W. Bush, Santa Clara, Calif., May 2, 2003

"The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa." -George W. Bush, State of the Union Address, Jan. 28, 2003, making a claim that administration officials knew at the time to be false.

  • yeah- and when the drugs are free the people can complain that there are no new drugs to cure their ailments. (i'm a drug rep :)

there was an awesome guy on our local radio today - he was black, and dislikes Obama - and said that he was brought up to NEVER take anything for free b/c if someone gives you something for free- then they can take it back. He felt Obama was an empty suit- just put there to make people say "alright! a black man can do it!"... yet he didn't work as hard as other candidates to get where he is today.  I wish more people thought like this man - black and white... I just wish more people didn't want hand outs and would work for their money.

Yeah, and one woman at a McCain rally actually said she thinks Obama is an Arab!

There is plenty of ignorance among supporters of all political persuasions.

First of all the notion that Obama is an empty suit is ridiculous, especially coming from a party that elected George Bush.

Second, just because someone holds a different political belief than you does not mean they are looking for a handout, aren't a real American etc, etc.

I work hard too, have never gotten any type of public assistance, come from a well educated family, and am myself well educated and I would never vote for someone like George Bush and would never have voted for John McCain.

who said all Dems want handouts??  don't take things so personally.

i'm just saying- i wish there were LESS people who always wanted a hand out... which is what this post is about. There are many of them out there. I used to work in an inner-city New Orleans public school- and saw it every day.  Nothing sadder than a 5 y/o who is asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" and they answer "I'm not going to work- why should I? my mama doesn't work and we get money for free"....

  • Like I said a lot of stupid people.   There are a lot of very educated people who have no common sense.

Right, right....all the lazy poor people who want a handout.  They are nearly an epidemic!

And yeah, there are some well educated people who lack good decision making abilities, for sure.  George Bush is a good example!
