3rd Trimester

It hurts to Walk

This is my first pregnancy so I don't know if this is normal or not, but I assume it is. As the weeks go on, and the pregnancy progresses t keeps getting worse. I feel this increased pressure like pain down there. I am guessing it's from the baby dropping. Standing up or getting out of bed is painful. It gets worse as the day goes on. Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • I don't have any suggestions to make it better, but I have this too. Dr. says it is normal. As her head has move down in stations, the pain has gotten worse.

  • Yes!  It has been very painful to walk, get out of bed, etc. for the past month or so.  It is not getting any better at this point!
  • I am.  I didnt ecperience this during my first pregnancy...then again DS was delivered at 34 weeks.

Walking is such an annoyance.  I've given up on shopping and other stuff that I can just make my DH do..lol.  Stairs are the worst.  And it sucks because our only bathroom is on the 2nd floor...yay!  I also have the pain getting in and out of bed. I'm deffinatly to the point that I just dont roll over in my sleep anymore.

Ugh I can't wait for this baby to come.

  • With each of my pregnancies it seems to get a little worse a little earlier on!

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • My son never dropped, so I'm experiencing all this for the first time as well. Pain in the hips, lightning crotch, I feel like a weeble I wobble so bad, even sitting hurts in the hips and lower back. All we have to look forward to is holding our little babies and knowing deep down it's worth it and we'll forget all about what we've gone through to get there.

  • I'm totally having this problem too!  I think it's just from the baby's head dropping further into the canal.  It'll be over soon!

  • Yep..getting out of bed is the worst, and it seems to get better the longer I'm up, but I still can't take long strides when I walk, or it hurts. I assume it's the pubic symphisis. Dr. says it's normal.

  • Right there with you! There is a ton of pressure down there. Here's hoping the next 2 and a half weeks go by really fast.

  • Yes, totally normal.  I teach and by the end of the day, I am barely able to walk.  I can only imagine how I'm going to feel in a few more weeks.  Huh?

I give you props because I am probably going to take off work because of this walking problem. (I am also a teacher). The long strides, the getting up and standing up, sitting, etc... all a big pain.  The doctors all say it's normal.  It's normal and fine with me if the doctor tells me I am progressing... I haven't heard that yet :)

Anthony Javier will be here soon!

  • yup and I'm only 31 weeks. This didn't happen the first time because DS was breech and high, I'm in for a long 9ish weeks!
  • Yup, I have this too. It's the worst when I try to get into bed. I'm pretty sure DH is tired of hearing me moan in pain every night when we go to bed haha. I just hope the next couple weeks go quickly!

  • I've also had this recently and to the point where I didn't want to get out of bed the other night, no matter how bad I thought I had to pee! It's a very strong pain low in the abdomen and at times, I feel like I can't move my left leg. To be totally gross, for some reason, sometimes it comes along with gas and when I fart it goes away. Interesting, I know!

I told my OB about it yesterday and she said it's perfectly normal as the baby drops lower and your pelvis opens up.

  • My chiropractor has helped me with this.  Not sure how it works, but I feel so much better (tolerable) after I go.  Worth a shot if your insurance covers some of it.
  • Thanks Ladies. I'll suck it up for the next week or so.
