How to boost my nighttime supply?

I pump about 18oz during the day.  Lately when I get home from work, I feel very "empty" and when C gets hungry, I don't feel like my milk has come in and hardly feel any letdown.  He seems still hungry after he nurses as much as he can.  I try to hand express to make sure I'm tapped, and sure enough, hardly any comes out.  Also, he's been waking up earlier for his nighttime feeding, which indicates to me that he's not getting as much before bedtime.

What can I do to boost my nighttime supply?  I'm drinking tons of water all day and in the evening too.

  • Your supply naturally drops in the evening (it's normal and to be expected). I've heard other moms having luck with boosting their supply by eating oatmeal or taking fenugreek. Another idea is to shift your last pumping session a little earlier in the day, so you'll have more milk when C nurses when you get home.

This is what worked for me for many months, I pumped at work at 8, 11, and 2 and nursed around 6:30-7pm. However, a few months ago, it was no longer enough and I started giving a bottle of pumped BM after nursing. I had to pump on weekend mornings (you have the most milk in the mornings and it gradually decreases as the day goes on) in order to have enough in my freezer stash.
