My H is away for 3.5 weeks so I decided to take LO to meet my family in Florida. We only have 1 car, so this was the perfect oppurtunity. We left first thing last Tuesday morning - 8 hour drive. We spent 2 days at my mom's, then drove 2 hours to spend 3 days with my extended family, and then back north to visit with my dad and step mom for 2 days.
By day 5, LO was completely spent. She had a total melt down that involved crying for 2.5 hours before finally crashing. The next night it took 1.5 hours to get her down (less crying though, YAY). We were supposed to spend last night at my dad's and then come home this morning, but I couldn't bear the thought of trying to put her down in her PNP, so we left early. I drove from 5:30pm and got home around midnight. DD slept almost the whole way, had a bottle when we got home and slept until 8:45 this morning.
I am sooooo glad to have my happy baby back! Next time we will just visit the grandparents and I will definitely be taking H with me. Unpacking and repacking the car 3 times was a betch.
Re: A week is too long!
I drove over 400 miles one way with my 2 year old and 3 month old (at the time) to visit my mum. It was my first time driving down there and I did it all alone.
It was a hot mess, but we made it there and back safely.
