bunk beds

anyone have them?  Do you like them?  Regrets?  How old where your kids when they slept in the top bunk?

 when we went to disney John slept in the top bunk & LOVED it! The bed he sleeps in now is a converted crib which the baby will use.  SO we need to get him a new bed.  He has his little heart set on a "bed with a ladder."  He did fine with the bunk in Disney but I am not so sure I want them at home.  It just makes me nervous.  I think we will just do a full with a trundle in the end.

    My girlfriend got the one from Ikea that has the bottom bunk on the floor and the top bunk is at about 4 feet.  Then she also did the bed tent.  This has made her feel pretty safe about the bunk bed option.  I would actually be okay with the bunk bed now and more worried about when they are 7 or 8.  For some reason I feel like they would be more likely to jump off at that age :)

    Grant (4.5) has bunk beds in his room and loves them. 1/2 the time he sleeps on the top bunk, and the rest he is on the bottom. He has been sleeping in it since right before he turned 4 and we've had no problems. We bought them when we were planning on having a 3rd and thought the boys would share a room, but he now has the bed (and the room all to himself) and he loves it!

    I am looking forward to getting them for our kids' room. 

    I am looking for bunk beds that can be taken apart to be two twin beds. Also has a trundle.
