A gal on the 0-3 month board posted that her pedi's nurse accidentally gave her LO TWO doses of the HIB vaccine instead of 1 HIB and 1 HepB. Most of the responses were supportive, but a few asked why she didn't check the syringes before they were administered.
Do you check the labels/dosage when your LO gets shots/vaccines?
DD had her 8 week shots last week, and I didn't check. Having worked in healthcare before though... I think I might start checking from now on.
ETA: I meant that by having worked in healthcare before, I know how easy it is for errors like this to happen.
Re: Shots - Do you check the syringes?
Ditto this
This...we're on a delayed schedule and so Pedi and I always discuss the shots that I want for that visit (which is no more than 3). And then they show me the label and read it outloud and I sign for each shot on a paper they filled out. But man...it takes at least 15-20 mins for them to prep all the shots for this too. And when I had both kids for their vacs...it seem like an all day event.
We do this too.
Same here, but I never would have thought of it otherwise.
