Signs your baby is suffering from gas?

I am a first time mom so I don't know the exact signs but she gets fussy often and I think it is due to gas.

My reasons are --

this happens at night a lot while she sleeps -- she grunts and makes other noises with weird "pushing" type faces that don't result in poop.  She is not constipated and poops regular so maybe she is trying to pass gas?

When she is wailing a lot of times moving her into a differnet position helps -- again I think, perhaps it is bc she has gas and moving her helps it pass.

Lately she has started to have real "human" farts - not often but sometimes.

What are signs that you knew your LO was suffering from painful gas and what has helped? (I do bicycles with her already and rub her tummy).

    My LO has pretty bad gas. When he gets really uncomfortable he cries in pain and he pulls his legs up. To help we burp really well, bicycles with the legs and the pedi. said for me to limit dairy and caffiene! Hope that helps!

    Oh, and at night (when its worse) we give gas drops.

    When my LO is going through a daily belly spell with gas it is evident.  He can be sleeping and will suddenly wake into an instant blood curdling scream out of the blue.  He works his legs as though he was running a marathon, just pulling them up to his chest and back down.  I can actually feel my LO's intestines moving as he tries to pass the gas.  He also makes the faces as though he is pushing.  He is not constipated either.  He now gets mylicon before every BF session and it helps some.  He does not get hit as hard with his spells.
