Re: The SAHM Book Club Weekly Check-In
I finished Remember and am now reading Snowfall at Willow Lake which is part of a series I started months ago and didn't finish because I could not find all the books. Hoping this one is as good as the others were.
jnksmom: 11/20 CR: Snowfall at Willow Lake LBR: Remember
That series is pretty good! I'm on the last one now! At least, I think it's the last one.
5/30 CR: Marrying Daisy Bellamy
I finished The Sky is Everywhere. So that puts me at 27/60 for the year.
I'm currently reading The King's Speech.
Thanks!

LR: Signs of Life by Natalie Taylor
CR: Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life by Jillian MichaelsI finally finished Signs of Life. It was....okay. I wanted to like it more but it kind of dragged at times. It's a real life story about 24 year old (and 4-5 months pg) Natalie Taylor losing her husband of one year to a freak accident. The book is about how she basically learns how to move on. Sometimes I found it was hard to follow the multiple friends/family and her relationships to them. Such as she'll sometimes refer to someone with their first name and later on a nickname. Confusing. And while it was interesting at times, she is a teacher and refers to a LOT of books and applies their plotlines to her situation and how she was dealing. I felt like I was reading about the books more than her. It took me a while to finish it for that reason. It just couldn't hold my interest as much I wanted it to...it seemed like it could be an inspiring story.
I plan on my next book being Unlimited: How to Build an Exceptional Life by Jillian Michaels. I'm currently doing her 6 Week 6 Pack workout and would love to see if she can bring in print like she does in her workouts:)

11/50 CR: The Lovely Bones
LBR: Room - this book was great! Unlike anything I've ever read before. Although I will say the first half is better than the second half, IMO.
Hi everybody!
LBR: Water for Elephants
I am CR The Backup Plan by Sherryl Woods. It's OK, its an easy read. I really wouldn't recommend it though. I am almost done and looking foward to starting a new one soon.
I finished A Thousand Splendid Suns last week. I am not sure I'd recommend it or not. The writing was amazing; truly a gifted author. However, the subject matter was difficult for me, particularly the part when the mom had to bring her daughter to the orphanage. It was definitely a book I had to put down multiple times because emotionally I was falling apart.
After my last few books, all heavy in subject matter, I have moved onto Non-Fiction. I'm reading The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman. I'm not quite 100 pages into it so I'm just really scratching the surface of the book but so far it's been really interesting. He talks a lot about how the internet got started, and it totally brings me back to when I was in college...Netscape!? I haven't heard that in YEARS!

Gatogrrl 11/30 CR: Moby Duck by Donovan Hohn
LBR: The Year of Living Biblically
The Year of Living Biblically was great. Very entertaining and thought-provoking. I also finished After the Quake, which had some good stories and some not-so-good stories.
Now I'm reading Moby Duck, about what happens to over 28,000 bathtub toys that fall off their container ship into the Pacific Ocean during a storm. It's really quite an odyssey so far. Over the course of ten years, a couple make it through the Arctic and are picked up in Scotland and Maine!
LBR: Divergent, The Shining
I finished Julie & Julia--kind of interesting how they made up so much drama for the movie that's not in the book. A quick, satisfying read. And oh how I've been cooking from MTAOFC! Inspiring.
So 10/25, CR, is Charming Billy (McDermott). I needed a novel, and I love her. I'm about 50 pages in, and it's good, but I don't know if I like it as much as Child of My Heart or After This.

I know I've missed a few updates...it's been a crazy May!
I finished The Paris Wife, I liked it! Something borrowed was a re-read, so we don't have to count that one.
I'm currently reading Dead Until Dark...so far so good.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
