So today after I fed my dogs, one started to cough/gag. As I go see to see what was wrong all I can see was blood everywhere! I mean tons of it, not in a puddle but drops everywhere. I yelled for DH and he checked her out and it seemed to be coming out of her nose. I immediately googled it and apparently dogs can get a bloody nose. It could have been caused by either HBP or it can be something more serious, which scares me. She will be 7yrs old soon and is a labrador. Has this happened to any of your dogs?

Re: If you have dogs please come in :(
No, I haven't had that happen. I would be so upset, though.
I hope it turns out to be something minor and/or fixable.

Thanks! Didn't even think about it.
Make an appointment to see your veterinarian. There are many things that can cause nasal bleeding. Some serious, some easier to fix. The vet will probably start with labwork. Consider radiographs to check for tumors/bone abnormalities, and/or a nasal scope to check for foreign bodies like foxtails. Sometimes dogs can experience nasal bleeding from warfarin (gopher/rat poison) toxicity, or it could be from a bleeding disorder. A bloody nose in a dog is rarely nothing at all.
Good luck and I hope it is something simple!
Will do. I'm just not sure about it being a foxtail. My other lab had one removed, but she just had a little spotting nothing compared to what I saw today.
This exactly. I work for an emergency vet clinic and like PP said, they're rarely "nothing." If it doesn't stop bleeding, I would say get to an emergency vet asap. But if it.s under control, then call your vet first thing in the morning. Good luck! I know how scary this stuff can be. I hope all goes well and your pup is okay!
