The overly friendly baby?!?!

My son is almost 10 months old, and instead of being shy is he overly friendly.

We went to the mall today and he was waving at everyone. Whoever didn't wave back (or at least pay him some attention) were squealed at. He will also crawl to anyone and doesn't really care who it is.

 I know most parents would be more concerned about a super shy baby, but my concern isn't that he is friendly. It's more so, how do I teach a 10 month old that you have to be cautious of strangers.

    I really wouldn't worry about it now. A time will come when they will be shy.

    My 3 y/o was just like that as a baby and now hides behind me every where we go.

    my LO is exactly like that! i think it's hysterical!  i was just telling someone today that if i am at a store i always end up with half of what i went for because she's so busy talking and waving to everyone that i get sidetracked.

    i think eventually she'll figure it out as she gets older and realizes that not everyone is as friendly back to her.

    My LO isn't as old as yours, but she does the same thing. She smiles at everyone as they walk past, then does a happy dance and grins like crazy when people smile back or talk to her..

    Our little guy makes friends wherever he goes! Same thing. There are times, however, when is a little more "shy." But, usually, he's completely outgoing. I love it.

    You're right; you can't teach this to a 10 month old, so you just have to be extra cautious and watchful around strangers. However, my son was the same way as a baby. People would tell me he was going to be a politician because of how outgoing he was and he'd go to anyone. That all changed at about 18 mos! He became totally shy and still is at 4! They definitely go through phases.
