Last week at our 6 month check up I noticed a few spots/marks. The doctor and I both assumed that they were insect bites since we had been sitting outside in the grass the day before.
The next day, daycare emailed me to let me know that LO had been running a fever all day and that I should come pick her up early. When I got her home, I noticed more spots and thought that maybe she was having an allergic reaction to the vaccines so I looked down the back of her onesie and saw blisters! I totally freaked the freak out!
I immediately called the pedi and was told to come in right away. They had 3 doctors come in to look at her and hypothesized that it was chicken pox but wanted us to take Benadryl for the night to rule out hives. We came back the next day...with more spots and blisters
We officially have chicken pox! I feel so bad for LO. I feel doubly bad for all of the babies under 12 months that we have exposed. I feel like we have the plague! We can't go anywhere until we have been cleared by the doctor. She said that it "could" take up to 21 days before she can go back to daycare...WTF!!!
It has been a week and I am getting stir crazy! Sorry for the long post...just needed to vent.
Re: Chicken Pox = Prison
Holy cow! I'm so sorry. That sounds miserable!
21 days?! How on earth is one supposed to make that work!? Good luck!
Wow, I am so sorry you're going through this. 21 days is crazy!! Hopefully you have family & friends around that can help spring you (just you) free for a few hours.
I am completely scared of E getting the chix pox...because I've never had them!
That's horrible, I'm sorry!!!
Hopefully LO doesn't take that long to recover!
Nah it's actually pretty common, it's better to get it as a kid anyway because if you get it as an adult I hear it's painful and dangerous
half my mom's friends from work's children were at my house every day for like a week straight so they would get it, I thought it was weird then, but I understand now.
Wow. Hope it clears up quick!
I never had the chicken pox, and I don't think I had the vaccine either. I remember my mom telling me that when my sister got chicken pox, she made sure I was exposed, but I never got it.
My grandpa never had it either from what I've been told, so hopefully I'm just naturally immune.
