Internals & Spotting/Mucous Plug

So i went in for my last OB appointment and scheduled my Wednesday 7:15am Induction (I am now 2cm, and almost entirely effaced so they are skipping Cervadil and going right for the Pit).

My doctor is 100 pounds soaking wet and gentle, but today, the internal was brutal.  Plus she gave me a serious membrane stripping as one last shot at having this baby the old fashioned way.  It hurt quite a bit to be honest, more than the last time I had my membranes stripped.

Well I have been spotting a pretty good clip since, as in, filled 2 pantyliners.  Now there is mucous-y chunks, blooded up of course due to the spotting, coming out too.  Im cramping up quite a bit as well.  Could this mucous be due to internal-related spotting, or is this majority of my mucous plug? (I lost small pieces a couple days ago as well)

Trying to not get hopeful about somehow pulling this off sans-induction - but is there a chance this is the start of something?  Or just normal membrane stripping reaction?

Re: Internals & Spotting/Mucous Plug

  • I had a brutal internal that left me spotting too. Never had my membranes swept intentionally though. I bled red spotting for a little then I got darker brownish colored chunks. If you are getting a lot of bleeding, enough to saturate a pad, like you would have on your period, call L&D. I called my L&D just to be extra careful. We are too close to having LO in our arms to take any chances.

  • The same exact thing happened to me on Friday when I had my membranes stripped. I took it as my mucus plug coming out. I also started getting contractions and crampiness as soon as the exam was over. They have stopped now though....sad :(

Boooooo.  Mine are still pretty strong and borderline timeable, but I wouldnt call them labor for sure.  Maybe, that would be nice...

The bleeding however, has calmed down, which is good
