Zoe's arrival - PIP

Zoe Willow was born on the Sun, 5/22 at 12:07pm.  She was 8lb, 9oz and 20 inches.  Labor was good and pretty short and really couldn't have gone much better.  On Saturday, I went shopping for 5 1/2 hours to try to get things started.  My back was KILLING me but I was determined to walk as much as I could.  I could tell I was having contractions, but wasn't timing them at all.

By the time I got home, I was definitely having consistent, timeable contractions, about 2-6 minutes apart but they were tolerable.  I ate dinner and watched Doctor Who and kept timing the same contractions for about 2 hours.  I talked to L&D and decided to labor at home until the contractions were more intense and painful.  Shortly after that, I had a small gush of fluid with bloody show that I thought might be my water breaking, so we headed in to the birthing center.

They were pretty busy so we waited in triage about 2 hours during which I had consistent contractions.  Once I got admitted, I headed for the big soaking tub which was heaven!!!  Until the heat got to me all at once and I threw up in the tub several times.  Oops!  I got cleaned off and went back to the room.  My water completely ruptured, all over the floor multiple times,  then the contractions started getting pretty bad.  I asked for the epidural.  I was barely at 4cm, which was disappointing but I don't think I could have coped too long.  The epi was perfect and I was able to sleep for a couple of hours at a time.  After about 6 hours of sleep, the MW checked me and I was fully dilated and ready to push!  I pushed for less than 30 minutes and she came out pretty easily with a full head of hair!

There was pretty thick meconium in the fluid the whole time, but her heartrate stayed good and strong and she came out crying and did great on her Apgars.  We both had slight fevers but we're all good now.  I had a 2nd degree tear but it honestly doesn't even hurt now.  I've been eating like a horse since right after delivery and Zoe is a BFing champ!  We're sooooo happy with our perfect little angel.
