It's a week late but oh well ![]()
I am going to make this quick because if I wrote out the whole thing it would take hours. Yes this is the short version lol
I was in labor for a total of 26.5 hours and the epidurals (yes epiduralSSS) did not work. I had back labor and it was terrible. When I was first admitted to the hospital (May 14th 7pm) the nurses asked me if I wanted the cameras in the room...I delivered at Riverside where they film One Born Every Minute on Lifetime. I shot them down very quickly. However now that I think about it if I would have agreed my episode probably would have been the best lol. I got started on pitocin around 7:45pm, a resident broke my water around 11:30pm(I was 2cm dilated), got the epidural around 7am on May 15th. The anesthesiologist stabbed me 5 times in 3 different spots because she could not get the catheter in. It was very painful and the epidural ended up not working the right way. Around noon I was only dilated to a 4 which I had been dilated at for 6 hours. The nurse told me to start thinking c-section. She said Bentley was doing great and I was fine as well but I wasn't dilating as quickly as they would like me to. I started to cry because I wanted to deliver him vaginally. The nurse said my OB called and said if I wasn't dilated any higher by 3:30pm to seriously consider the c-section. 3:30 came and I was checked again..I was almost 6cm. The nurse was excited because I was making progress..slowly but surely! I was in a crap load of pain and almost gave up and agreed to the c-section because of the amount of pain I was in. However I was a trooper and stuck to my guns. Around 6pm I started feeling like I had to take a serious poo and it was PAINFUL. The anesthesiologist came back in and gave me a second dose of the epidural (didn't work). Around 7pm I asked my mom to rub my butt because it hurt so bad. I started to involuntarily push and my mom asked me what I was doing. I told her I couldn't help it but I was pushing like I had to have a bowel movement. She called the nurse in with a quickness and told me to breathe through them instead of push. The nurse came in and checked me..I was 9cm dilated!!! The nurse called my OB and came back in and got prepped. I started the pushing process.
I pushed for an hour and Bentley Logan was born at 9:28 pm on May 15th after a horrendously long and painful back labor, but he is so worth it! He was 7lbs 5oz and was 20.2in long.
This is the face he makes when I burp him haha:
His grumpy old man face:
