Telling the Older Sibling

Are any of you moms who already have little ones holding off on explaining to them that there's another baby on the way? I have a VERY talkative 5 year old and I KNOW he would blab it to the world if we were to tell him. So we're thinking we will wait to tell him until just before we're ready to tell everyone else.

    I haven't told my girls yet.  Older DD is 5 and also very, very talkative.  She will probably tell random strangers in Target when we do tell her. That and I know once I tell them, they're going to ask repeatedly,  "When is the baby coming?" I'm trying to wait until after my first appointment next Tuesday to tell my girls.  We'll be traveling home to Boston the next day, so I'll tell family then and I definitely want the girls to hear it from us rather than some random cousin.

    I don't plan on really telling my 3 year old until later. I don't think she would understand why the baby is not here NOW. Plus the blabbing thing of course :)

    Even if I told my son right now, he wouldn't understand what I was talking about unless I kept telling him over and over everyday.  

    I won't really say anything to him until we get much further along.

    We will probably wait as well.  I am not sure DD would really understand either since she is 2 1/2.  She would probably keep asking when the baby was coming home.

    That is pretty much our plan too.  My mom is visiting in mid-June so we will be telling her then.  I am sure my DD will hear us talk about it so we will most likely tell her too.

    Waiting was my plan... until DH decided it would be really funny to tell the kids and see how long it took them to blab it to the rest of the family.  Hmm  Today we were walking through the grocery store (just DD and me) and she was rubbing my belly (yay, bloat) and telling me I had a big tummy already and she was talking to the baby.  Cute, but we were getting some strange looks!
