Can I AW again please? My Grandpa's Rocking Horse (PIP heavy)

My Grandpa made three rocking horses when I was little, one for me, and two of my cousins.  After 20-something years, it was looking pretty shabby so I decided to restore it the best I could for LO. It was a pretty intimidating project, and my whole family would have been really upset if I ruined it, especially me. That's why I was so thrilled when it actually turned out!!

After sanding and patching. It had a lot of dings and chips.

Primer and two coats of red paint later, plus putting the facial features back on with a stencil.

DH sprayed it with a clear coat and then I attached all the details. So happy with it!

I'm not sure if this was an intentional pun, but I definitely snickered a bit.  ;)

  • How wonderful - its great to have heirlooms like that.

My Grandpa made furniture as a hobby, and was really really good at it (he's alive but 90, so he doesn't make furniture anymore, so I am using past tense).  He made me a beautiful cradle when I was a baby, and my parents put it down in the moldy leaky nasty basement for the last 20 years which rotted quite a bit.  He got the cradle from their basement, refinished the parts that were moldy, and shipped it to me here in Florida!  Its amazing to have it in my little girls room :)
