For labor day weekend, we are going to Napa Valley for 3.5 days. My little guy will be a little over 4 months. How are airlines in regard to carrying on breast milk? If I'm gone three days, some I will pump and dump (because it's a wine trip...bringing the strips with me) but most will be kept. I plan on storing in a refrigerator while there, but I'll have a ton of milk at the end. How should I store/cool it all to get it back here? Any suggestions are MUCH appreciated!
Re: Traveling - Help!
When I've traveled for work and flown back with gobs of milk, I checked the milk. The airline is fine with you carrying on, but that's a ton of milk to bring back. What I've done is had the hotel freeze several blue cooler packs for me. I put all my pumped milk in breastmilk freezer storage bags. I put the storage bags in a big ziplock, and then put the ziplock in an insulated bag with the freezer packs. Then I checked the whole thing in my luggage.
I've done this several times now and it's worked great. I've had no problems, though, going through security with a frozen ice pack (the one that came with my PISA) or BM.
