I have been wearing this big drapey metal necklace lately because it is super cute. I wore it out saturday night and woke up with a bumpy itchy red rash everywhere the necklace touched around my neck and on my chest. Of course it is a huge necklace and covered my whole chest! I assume I am sensitive to some of the metal or something.
Anyone know if cortozone creams are ok for itching during pregnancy? I have a call in to my OB, but haven't heard back yet. I swear if I get one more weird thing they are going to think I am totally a hypochondriac over there! I am the queen of weird pregnancy stuff.
Re: Allergic reaction to jewelry?
**lurking from first trimester** - but me too! I have issues with all sorts of jewelry. I use hydrocortisone cream, and also have a prescription from the doctor for it (topical steroid) which I was told is fine. It's only going on your skin, nothing to do with bloodstream.
Well I'll just have to inform DH that my jewelry must be upgraded because of a medical condition
I just googled it and the images look just like my rash. That is probably what it is!
OMG! This started happening to me recently, but actually before I even became pregnant. I've had the problem for about 6 months now. Talk about feeling bad for not being able to wear them even though I love my rings and want to! I was wondering if it is somewhat common to all of the sudden have an allergy to gold. If I wear them more than a couple hours i get a red ring around my finger. It's never happened in the 5 years I've been wearing them!
LOL! Thanks for the laugh
LOL. I may not have a full jewelry box, but at least the pieces I have are good! One of the worst offenders for me are earrings. If they aren't the metals I mentioned, my ears get so itchy and crusty (so gross!).
It may be a nickel issue, I haven't been tested.
