Hi Houston Board!
We're planning a visit to the HCM soon and I'm looking for tips. My daughter is 2.5 and I know they have that "totsites" room for those under 3, but are there any other areas that we should consider that she might enjoy? We'll probably only have a couple of hours to spend there, so we're trying to make sure we don't miss anything really great.
I appreciate any information that you can provide!
TIA
Re: Children's Museum info?
Oh she will have a blast and I'm not just talking about the Tot Spot either. I haven't been there since March so I'm not entirely sure if they have a new exhibit. But there are the normal spots that will be very entertaining for a 2 1/2 year old. Kidtropolis is a huge hit, it's a little city with a restaurant, tv station, art studio, veterinarian, grocery store and so much more. There are certain sections that are designed with older kids in mind, but there is plenty that will be fun for her.
There is a water exhibit outside that most kids love, be sure to bring an extra change of clothes just in case she gets a little too wet.
I only let my kids go to the outside water works as the very last thing because they both manage to get completely soaked, but it is a lot of fun for them. The kidtropolis area is fun too. DD could spend all day playing in the vet's office and the grocery store.
I went week before last and was very disappointed because it seemed like half the exhibits were closed! So I'd call before you go to make sure that they haven't shut down whole sections. The new earth exhibit wasn't open yet and the entire upstairs area was closed, not the 2nd floor, but the loft area or whatever they call it in the main exhibit hall - worse, the upstairs was only closed off by a rope across the stairs and my 18mo and my friends' baby kept trying to make a break for it and climb those stairs, so it was a very frustrating experience.
