I only use a full swaddle during the day if LO is fussy and really needs a good nap. Otherwise I will loosely swaddle with arms out. I don't use white noise during the day because usually there is plenty of background noise in the house already.
We use both at night and neither for naps during the day. I think both things help DS sleep for longer durations and I would prefer he sleep the most hours at night. He sleeps ok for naps during the day, but doesn't last as long.
I use a fan both to circulate air and for the sake of white noise. I probably shouldn't during the day, because I want DD to get the idea that day time is for being up and active and night time is for "real" sleep. . . but she's only two weeks old and I need naps, too! Plus, using a fan is supposed to reduce the incidence of SIDS.
Lately, swaddling has depended more on the weather than on day vs. night. It has been alternating between unseasonably cool and pretty warm, so sometimes she's in a onesie, sleep sack, and swaddle, and sometimes she's just in light PJs.

swaddle and white noise at night only. I know it's probably silly, but i feel like if it's going to work at any time i'd rather it be at night.... i dont want to chance it starting to not work because i use it all the time.
LO sleeps in the swing or bouncer during the day, and usually is fine.
I was only using them at night to help him differentiate day/night but recently he's REALLY been fighting his naps and stays up for 3-4 hours and then of course, is super cranky because he's overtired so I just started using the swaddle at nap time too.
We don't swaddle anymore, but we do use a white noise machine and only at night. I also don't make the room she is napping in completely dark so she understands the difference between naptime and bedtime. So far she is doing pretty good with sleeping longer at night, and with falling right back asleep after eating at night.

We use white noise at night only. I swaddle her at night and for her afternoon nap, since I know it will keep her asleep longer and I want her getting used to having a longer afternoon nap, hoping to encourage her in that direction so it meshes with my other kids' schedules. So far, so good!
I use both at night, plus our ceiling fan. For daytime, I try to keep the house nice and bright for her naps. She takes one long nap in the afternoon and I swaddle her for this one only so she sleeps soundly.

We do both for every sleep, day or night. We even use swaddles that you can use with the carseat.
