  • Yep!  Mine is not quite two yet - still carry him around, pick him up, run after him (lol).  That's what keeps me on my toes!

  • Well I do pick her up most of the time but sometimes when it gets too much i get pains in my stomach so then i have to limit the amount i carry her. Some ppl tell me that I shouldnt be picking her up so much and carrying her but i just dont see how that is possible!! I was hoping that ppl would say it is ok!!

Unless your OB puts you on a weight restriction, I don't see any reason, especially this early, that people would be telling you to take it easy. That's just silly. Obviously if picking her up hurts then you should take it easy and discuss that with your OB.

  • I pick him up but try not to just hold him for to long. I try to pick him up and then sit down with him. Thats what my Dr. recommended.

  • I pick my girls up (25 pounds each), but am really trying to wean them off of carrying them both at once. I don't see myself able to lug around 50 pounds in the near future.

  • yep I do, she loves to be cuddled and carried :) I picked up my 50lb 5 year old last time, so I'm sure I'll be okay.
  • Yes I still pick up DD. I am trying to get her to walk more on her own when we're out, just to get her used to it when the belly gets big, but for now, I have no problem carrying her around.
  • My DD is almost 11 months & right around 20 pounds - I still pick & carry her up. Probably will through out the pregnancy too.

  • I pick up my 35lb 3 year old. My understanding is that you can do what you were doing before because your body is already used to that weight.

  • I don't understand how someone couldn't pick up their child.  Especially when out running errands, I have to carry him some or he's into everything and it takes 5x as long.

  • My doctor told me that I should not be picking up my son.  I assume it is because I have a history of loss and spotting with this pregnancy.  It has been really hard, and sometimes unavoidable.  I know I'll end up picking him up more when it is just the two of us home for the summer.  I have taught him to climb onto my lap, and into his high chair so that helps some.

  • I pick up both of my kids too.  I try not to carry them for long periods of time but a short distance or in/out of the car/crib etc I do all the time.
