short stretches of sleep

I keep reading posts about LOs sleeping for 4-5 hour stretches. My LO will maybe sleep in a 3-4 hour stretch once or twice a week otherwise we are still up every hour and a half to 2 hours at night. Please tell me I'm not alone and that others are still dealing with this as well...

Re: short stretches of sleep

  • You are not alone...and if it makes you feel better I have been dealing with this for 12 weeks! Somehow you just keep going. Naps help.

  • The past few nights DS was going 3 1/2 hours between feedings. The other night I got one stretch that was just about 4 hours so I was all excited thinking he is sleeping more. Tonight we had a 2 1/2 hour and now a 2 hour. Since I have been back at work, I pump at about 9 and then go to sleep. My husband will feed him around midnight and then come to bed and I wake up at the next feeding. I end up sleeping from 9:30 to 2 or 3, which helps a lot. This works for is because DH does not get up for work until 8.

  • You're def not alone. Aubrey sleeps 4hrs when I first put her down and then it's every 1-2 after that.

  • DS wakes up 2-3 times each night, he's been consistent with this since day one.

I'm usually still awake for the first wake up so I don't really count that one. The middle of the night one is often times not to eat but just to get into bed with me. He'll just fuss louder and louder until I pick him up and bring him into bed. He'll either zonk right out or eat and then zonk right out.

  • Oh god, some of your babies are older then minee and still dealing with this! Going back to work is going to kill me. I still have 4 weeks but it just doesn't seem to be getting any better. I tr to nap during the day when he naps but his naps are short and he really fights taking them for some reason.
  • We're in the same boat.  Our longest stretch has been 4 hrs.  Lately he doesn't want to go back to sleep either.  :(

This for me, too. Hang in there. I'm relying on the swing to get her to sleep and then switching her over to the R 'n P. Not thrilled about having to do that, but at this point, whatever gets her to sleep...

  • MY DS was starting to sleep about 4 hours throughout the night, but then all of a sudden he just stopped! Now he sleeps about an hour or so then gets fussy!  I have no idea what that is all about!
