DH's season ended on Friday night and, right now anyway, he's saying he'll be able to go on a "quick vacation" sometime in July. We'll see...
Anyway, we are trying to decide where to go, if it actually happens. We are thinking we'd like to probably be able to drive since he'll only be able to get away for about 4 days...we aren't opposed to flying, we just want to make good use of the little time we have.
I asked DH for thoughts and he really didn't have any. Of course ![]()
He said he'd like to go to a beach, lay out and drink all day and go out at night. That's fine with me but I know he will get bored and won't be able to really just chill on the beach all day, every day, so something to do or see close by would be good. Doesn't have to be a beach..but preferable I guess.
We went to Destin, FL for a weekend in February and would consider going back. I want to go to NOLA but he doesn't seem all that interested. We don't want to do Myrtle Beach/Wilmington/Outer Banks since we went to those places often when we lived in NC. We are going to be going to Nashville for a long weekend in June to see his sister and will be going to Vegas in November/December.
I've also considered Charleston...lots to do, not so beachy though. Savannah is nice...
Any other thoughts or places you'd recommend?

We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

Charleston so that would get my vote. Isle of Palms has some really nice beaches and Foley beach is nice too.
For a non-beach vacation, the mountains are always nice...we've spent a few weekends in Highlands, NC and it's really beautiful there. They have a nice little downtown and plenty of pretty overlooks to hike to. They're also known for their waterfalls.

I love the area right past Destin --- Santa Rosa Beach, Seaside, etc. Not as touristy as Destin, but it's still so close if you get bored.
Charleston is also beautiful.
I wouldn't do NOLA in July ----- way too hot and muggy down here

I don't mind that at all. I don't really want to go anywhere north or too far west because I don't want it to be "cold"..and cold to me is like below 85.

Then NOLA is perfect. No beach, but y'all can shop, busy around the quarter (they have the best cocktail tour), have a spa day, eat a ton of great food, and most of the hotels have great pools (some roof top). Decisions, decisions.

It's not beachy but, I'm recommending the CO mountains. Vail and Breckenridge are both lots of fun with lots to do and most hotels have pools to hang out by during the day. Good restaurants/bars, outdoor activities, shopping.

You know, I was just responding to nola's email and was telling her all of DH's recruiting trips this summer..I know he'll be out in CO for a massive tournament for a week in July. Maybe I could fly out there for the weekend and do some sightseeing. He probably won't want to combine a work trip with a vacation but maybe I can convince him to do that trip AND another trip around here..hmmm..;)
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I like the way you think!
What week in July? We'll be out of town for a wedding and a family beach vacay from the 7th- 16th. I hope his tournament isn't that week!

I'm honestly not sure..it is usually sometime around the 4th.
I think right now we are leaning towards doing New Orleans for a few days and then going down to the MS coast or doing the Denver thing...I think he's more interested in NOLA though. Which is weird, because last night when I brought it up he had no interest..
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
How about Biloxi and I'll meet you there!
You could then take a day trip into NOLA since it's only like an hour/hour and a half from there.
Or come north to Chicago! Or come stay at my house and we'll spend the days on the water on our boat, lol.
I sense a theme here....07/070707 - July - get together. Just saying....

I agree with the NOLA recommendations, as long as you can handle the humidity. I think it would be more fun.
I enjoy Hilton Head, but I thought it was very, very family oriented. I don't think you would enjoy it as much as NOLA. I went last year while I was miscarrying and it was hard seeing all of the families. Plus, it was about as humid as NOLA.
