Pregnant after a Loss

I just let the pregnancy hormones loose on a customer service rep.

I am usually very, very civil and understanding when working with customer service. DH and I have both worked in similar positions at some point, and as a teacher and personal banker we deal with the general public on a daily basis. I am usually pretty sympathetic when a customer just rips someone to pieces over something...but today I just had to be that lady. I couldn't help it. We bought a table a year ago, and back in December called to have it replaced/fixed because it was under warranty and the marble was all chipping off. They made us take pictures of the defects, send copies of our receipts, etc. We did, and then the proceeded to give us the run around and put us in contact with different people, and no one would call us back or return our emails. 5 months later, no table, no calls, nada. We reported them to the BBB, and magically they call this weekend saying our table is ready to be delivered (supposedly it was just on backorder, even though no one called to tell us this)...but we have to pay $100 to have it delivered. Are you flipping kidding me?! I went off on the poor girl, and after lots of arguing I managed to get them to drop the delivery fee to $50. Well, when the delivery guy showed up he didn't have a bill, nor did he ask us to pay anything, so I assumed maybe they felt bad and decided to cover the delivery (as they should have to begin with). I wasn't going to offer up $50 if he didn't ask. So right after he leaves, we get a call from the same girl saying we need to go into the store and pay the fee right away. Excuuuuuuuse me?! It took you 6 months to take care of this mess and now you want me to drop what I am doing to go in and pay you. No...maybe in 6 months.

  • I think I would have gone off too.  I have worked in customer service for over 10 years, and am in charge of the quality assurance program for our tech support at my company.  I am very sympathetic to customer service reps, but sometimes you have to be pushy or they walk all over you.

  • I had something similar happen to me... We bought a coffee table and end tables and paid for them to be delivered. When we opened the boxes to put them together, the coffee table was shattered. They wanted me to pay the delivery fee again for the new one. HAH! I freaked out but they wouldn't budge so I went and picked it up. It was a big inconvenience but I was not giving them any more money.
