Food Allergy

Intro

I just noticed this board the other day and thought that I would introduce myself.

My DS has Eosinophilic Esophagitis.  We are in the midst of food trials and biopsies right now.  He is tube fed for the most part.  Right now we are trialing carrots though, and they seem to be going really well.  I am excited that we may have finally found a food he can eat!  We find out if carrots are a safe food at his next biopsy on May 31st.

His 'regular' allergies are soy, eggs, peanuts.  The foods we have trialed and eliminated are chicken and oats so far.

Looking forward to getting to know you ladies.  Are there any other EOS mommas on here?

  • Hi there!  My daughter was tested for EE in November, but it was thankfully negative.  I hope the trials haven't been too hard on your DS.  I can only imagine having to go through that testing multiple times.  It's ncie to have answers as to what is wrong, but the process of getting there is so hard.

  • Thanks ladies.  I did chime in on that post as well.  I am glad that your daughter does not have it Miller, it is hard to deal with.  DS is starting to realize that he is different.  He begs for peoples food which is so hard.

I just realized that you are the poster that I used to email back and forth when we were both going through the process of the diagnosis.  Do you remember me?

  • I thought that it was you, but I wasn't sure. I am so glad that it turned out that she dosen't have it.  I was wondering how it worked out.

    How are things going now?

Things are going better.  She eats about 15 foods (most being fruit), and she is drinking the Neocate Junior.  We go back in June to get retested.  How are things going for you?

  • They are going okay.  He is trialing carrots right now which seem to be working well so far.  He will have a biopsy next week to make sure.  He has been drinking his Neocate Jr.  well through his bottles the last few weeks too instead of needing us to put it in his feeding tube.  That always makes me happy.  We are going to try pears next if the carrots do come back okay.
