Swelling and Bruising

Ever since I have noticed the swelling, I have been communicating it with my Dr and MW. They have both mentioned repeatedly that it's normal. However, since my last visit, my knees and thighs have gotten really swollen and my feet are turning dark with sharp pains shooting through them. Also, my feet constantly itch.

I just called the dr's office and left a message to have one of the nurses to call me back. I can understand that swelling is normal, but I just feel like there is more to it at this point.

Are any of you having issues with swelling/bruising?

Re: Swelling and Bruising

  • I feel the same way.  I feel like I am extremely swollen but since my BP and urine come back normal every time, my doctor isn't concerned.  These past few days however, I have started seeing "spots" also.  I'm going to talk to my dr about it this week because I'm concerned that I may be developing preeclampsia.  I guess they know better than us though.

  • My feet, legs, arms, and hands have been super swollen. I have a BP check two times a week at my doctors. I have only had one high reading. They did find a trace of protein in my urine early last week, but a second urine check showed nothing. I have been seeing spots with increasing frequency, but since I do not have high BP, protein in urine, or pain on the upper right side of my abdomen they will just continue to monitor me. My doctor is not concerned, but is monitoring me for now.

  • I'm having it. My swelling is in the knees, ankles and feet with what looks like bruising on the tops of my feet and definite pain in feet. I have not asked my doctor about. My BP has been fine, so I figure it's just "normal" for me and my pregnancy.

Seeing spots is also a sign of dehydration or blood sugar drops.  You may want to make sure you are staying hydrated and eating at regular intervals during the day if your dr. is sure it isn't a BP issue.

I don't have bruising...but I have swelling in my feet and ankles daily. It's pretty bad.  My feet also get pretty itchy. My Dr said it's par for the course...nothing to be worried about...and be glad that I'm not pregnant during the really hot summer months!

  • I too have had some significant swelling, so much so that if anything touches my feet or legs with more than a feather's touch it leaves an indent.  The doctors say it's normal but it's effing uncomfortable.

I have to go into the office on Wednesday and I have no idea what I'm going to wear...with exception to my flip flops and sneakers NOTHING fits my feet and my office makes no exceptions to the dress code.
