VBAC

didnt get vbac long story

I usually dont post much just lurk on this. board but i wanted to share my story. please excuse any grammar errors as im typing on my cell phone. my daughter mena was born 5/16 7lbs 5oz RCS due to gestational hypertension. my first c/s was from fetal distress and i had dilated to 9cm but my sons heartrate drastically dropped after giving pitocin because my contractions slowed. i was put to sleep and dh and i missed the birth and it was a tough recovery. this pregnancy i def wanted a vbac i went in on monday to be evaluated just because i was having strong contractions the night before and cramping but they stopped the next day. i was nervous and wanted to be checked as her movements werent as often as they recommened when doing fetal kick counts. so they checked me. i wasnt in labor my cervix was fingertip and even though i was exactly 39 weeks she was head down but her head wasnt in my pelvis it was still high. she was so high they thought she was breech because her heartrate was near my breast when they said it should have been alot lower. they did a u/s to confirm she wasnt breech. as they were about to let me go my midwife said did you just feel that contraction? i said no she said you just had one and it was a very strong one. when i looked at the chart it was a mountain high contraction only one and nothing afterwards. she took my blood pressure and it was 147/80 im usually 104-124/70 so that was high for me.she kept me to monitor my heartrate for an hr. it was up and down so she said they would have to keep me another hr to get a better reading well this time it was high my last reading was 150/?? i forget the bottom number. so she said they recommened i get a csection because i have gestational hypertension. my legs and feet were super swollen and painful but CONTINUED IN QUOTES BELOW ..

Re: didnt get vbac long story

  • STORY CONTINUED RAN OUT OF ROOM ON MY CELL. "they said it was normal pregnancy swlling. so they said they said with my bp being high the baby is losing oxygen and they recommended i get rcs. i asked if they could induce me but that was a no or too many risks because of risk of uterine rupture, my hemoglobin was a 7 so my iron is very low as the average person is 11 or 12, my cervix was still high hardly open so it would be a long labor & with my bp being high they didnt want to risk it. they said the induction could cause it to raise higher and i was afraid the baby would go into distress and i didnt want to be put to sleep again. so i had my csection i cried the whole time it was still painful and with a 2 yr old its even harder but she was healthy. i wont be having any more children i have my boy and girl. i wanted a 3rd in the future but that was only if i had a vbac i cant imagine getting another csection. but despite it all we are fine and im glad my baby girl made it here fine. goodluck to everyone else :)

  • I am sorry to hear you didn't get the birth experience that you wanted.  I hope you have a good recovery though.

  • Sorry things didn't work out as you planned.  I'm glad everyone is healthy though.  And from what I've heard, recovery with subsequent c-sections gets easier.  I hope that's the case for you.
