Help! Dinner stained DD's highchair tray.

We had enchiladas tonight and a good majority of DD's highchair tray is now orange. Like, really orange. I washed it with cold water and tried scrubbing it with a sponge and dishsoap and I couldn't tell a difference at all. I thought about Shout, but I probably don't want that on an eating surface, right? Has this happened to you? What works??

  • Just leave it out in the sun for :20 or so. It works for spit up stains too. Now...finding SUN might prove a little harder! ;)

  • Sprinkle some baking soda on it when its damp, let it sit for a bit then scrub. Worked for spaghetti sauce here! Good luck!
  • baking soda and vinegar will clean anything! just know ahead of time that it bubbles and foams :)

  • I'm amazed this is the first time you've had this problem!  Seems like that happened here at least once a week (usually with spaghetti or something).  I used to throw some baking soda on there, a little water, and let it sit for awhile.  I'd wash it off and there would still be some orange, but it seemed to usually fade (where'd it go??) by the next day.

  • We've had that happen with pureed carrots, tomato sauce, etc.  It will wash away after a few days of use.

  • Yeah I wouldn't worry too much about it.  It's going to happen again.  :)  And like the others said, it seems to fade out somehow.  But if you must clean it, I think baking soda is the way to go.

  • Ditto Jill.  Red food stains seem to fade on their own.
