Pregnant after a Loss

Just went through my maternity clothes-ack

I think I have been in denial about the growing bump. Probably because the idea of wearing maternity is scary. I do think I manged to piece something together with a few summer additions. Here's hoping I can find a few more pieces for summer w/o too many returns. I HATE maternity shopping, being smaller pre-pregnancy means everything looks like a tent and the neck lines are well past my little boobs! Then again maybe that is just how they make things.

Very scary and yet exciting milestone.

Re: Just went through my maternity clothes-ack

  • Congrats on busting out the maternity clothes! I am very petite (5ft tall and 118 pre pregnancy). I found maternity tops to all look like tents on me, even size small. They still look that way and I am over 33 weeks now. I just bought regular tops and dresses in a bigger size than normal, then I figure I can wear them afterwards when I am trying to slim down. I also bought a lot of regular shirts that are more flowy. They only actual maternity items I have are jeans and capris. Summer is easy for maternity, there are tons of cute summery dresses and skirts. I also bought a few elastic wasted skirts from ON, non-maternity, that work fabulously. AND I will wear them afterwards.

  • I went through mine last week to pull out some pants to cover the bloat. Everything just seems so blah and big. I also found all of my pants seemed way too short. I'm going to make a bunch of mat pants out of old pants I don't wear anymore.

  • I have some postpartum tops that I am hoping to wear throughout the summer but I doubt they make it to August. I will buy as needed.

Some of my maternity pants were too short as well and one seemed very short in the crotch. I assume that has to do with carrying differently.

  • I am right there with you.  I am rather petite and so many things look huge!  My pre-preg jean capris were getting a little snug so I just started wearing mat ones... but they are soooo baggy! For shirts, I have some from my last pregnancy but I am mostly wearing flowy, tunic type tops that will cover the fact that my mat pants are a bit baggy.  I also have been wearing bathing suit cover-ups as shirts since they are long and flowy.  One of the best purchases I made with my last pregnancy was maternity camisoles, since a lot of the shirts are so low cut.
