Food Allergy

Intro

So excited there's a Food Allergy board here finally!

I have 28-month-old fraternal twin boys. We realized right around 2 months that they were atopic kiddos--developed major eczema and we started checking for dairy and soy allergies.

Will turned out to have allergies to wheat, corn, strawberries, peanuts and sesame. Alex had allergies to eggs and sesame.

Will started to outgrow his wheat allergy last summer. Just last month, he passed his peanut challenge! We were VERY pleasantly surprised since he had most of the risk factors for NOT outgrowing it (eczema, other food allergies, family history--on both sides--of the whole atopic triad). He also recently passed a strawberry challenge. We tried fish recently for the first time, almonds this morning and will try shellfish soon, too. (His epipen Rx wasn't renewed since he passed his peanut challenge so we're trying to test all the riskiest foods on both boys before it expires!) So far so good.

So at this point we're dealing with a corn allergy for Will and an egg allergy for Alex; they both seem to have outgrown their sesame sensitivity as well. If anyone is dealing with either of those or the allergies we've dealt with in the past, I'm happy to help if I can with product recs, websites, etc.

Welcome! That is great that your boys are starting to outgrow some of their allergies!

I would love to talk to you more about Will's corn allergy. I posted above about our situation. Do you have to avoid every single trace amounts of modified corn product like we seem to have to?

  • Haven't seen you on in awhile.  That is so awesome and encouraging about your sons outgrowing their allergies.  I hope they continue in that direction.  What a relief for you.
