I just got the email that I've been elected to the board of the Oregon State Poetry Association. I'm really excited, but it's a three-year-term, so I have no idea what I'm in for since Liam's my first LO. There are about eight meetings a year (one a month except for winter when the meetings are by phone and when there are conferences in April and October), and they are all on weekends, and they rotate them around the state so that there's no unfair travel involved based on where board members live.
So, for the next three years, either I'll be gone one Sunday a month or possibly taking Liam with me.
Will anyone else be traveling this much with their LO or leaving him with your DH this often? I sort of thought this is an exciting opportunity to have with an LO because my travel/lodging will be tax deductible, so we'd get to go to things like museums, zoos, etc., especially if there are weekends when we could go as a family.
Am I being too idealistic? What do you guys think?
Re: Anyone planning on frequent travel with LO?
DH and I plan to travel all the time with DS, but that's a little different than what you're asking. But generally, I think that I want DS to be a "portable" baby who goes everywhere he can. So, I think, especially if you can take Liam and Jared with you, then it sounds great. I would think that even if he can't travel with you, you could work it out - plenty of moms do, I just have no personal experience or advice on that regard.
It sounds like you are excited about the opportunity and I'm confident you will be able to find a system that works for your family. Congrats!
We are planning on traveling quite a bit with LO. DH is in the military and right now we have orders for Japan in November. If we do end up going there we plan on traveling and exploring a lot. We will be there for 3 years, and I think traveling and letting Avery experience new things is great.
I think you guys will be able to handle it, and I agree it will be a great experience for Liam. I say go for it.

Horray for Oregon!
DH is in the Mairnes down here in SoCal, and we are trying to plan a trip up home to Oregon to see family. We go 2x a year, not nearly as much as you plan on, but it's a 1,043 mile trip one way. So it should be interesting.
I'd take them with you! Go out and do things as a family, and see new places. I've noticed that traveling with Kainan (DS) got easier and easier every time we go out. And now he doesn't care when he goes in the carseat, and doesn't miss a beat on feeding in the car.
So go, Have fun and enjoy your time with DS and DH!!!
