I read "Captivating" a few years ago, and while I didn't agree with a whole lot of the points, it did have some good ones. I actually liked the boy-version "Wild At Heart" a lot more. It's a religious one, FYI, I don't know if that matters to you or not.
You might try going to your library's website, and using the keyword search, type "raising girls/daughters"--that's how I found Raising Cain, and then it was also recommened to me. I found a few titles that looked good, and checked out reviews on them.

Are you also looking for children's books? Some of our favorites...
Cinderedna
Amazing Grace
The paper bag princess
The Frog Price, continued
Paper Bag Princess was one of my FAVORITE books as a kid!!!! I LOVE that book!
That said, Captivating & Wild at Heart are usually really popular- but I'm not sure they have as much to do with raising children?? I thought they were more encouraged for the kids to read themselves at tween age? I do have a friend currently reading Cinderella Ate My Daughter, but I haven't heard her verdict yet.
If your looking for something Christian based James Dobson's Bringing up Girls is really good. It has some really good ideas for how Dads can bond with their girls. We also have Raising a Modern Day Princess, but it's geared towards older girls. I'll ask H what other ones he has read and liked.

not so much raising, but it would be helpful in knowing how to explain different mindsets, etc to your daughter. It's definitely one that is moreso for reading YOURSELF, and not reading to apply to others.

I believe Reviving Ophelia is the girl version of Raising Cain. My mom and I read it when I was a teenager and I still have my copy, need to reread it soon, but it's more about the adolescent years (though it seems like that comes pretty early these days!)

I did a lot of research on this in my master's classes. Micheal Gurian is one good author - he has, Boys and Girls Learn Differently, The Wonder of Girls, and It's a Baby Girl (haven't read this one yet, but looks good).

I read this as a young adult and remembered thinking I wished my mom had read it when I was younger.
