XP: Diaper bag for 2 in cloth diapers?

 Copied from Cloth Diapering board:

I have 2 diaper bags that I can use for short day trips, but DH and I often go on outings that take an extended amount of time - requiring us to need a lot of stuff in our diaper bag. We'll soon be having 2 in cloth (hopefully DD will be potty trained, but I'm not banking on it), so I'm looking for a diaper bag that's large enough for lots of diapers (dirty and clean), organized, has a cooler compartment for more than just bottles, and is somewhat stylish.

Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

  • i use one of those reusable tote/shopping bags as my diaper bag lol.  it's the only thing i've found to be big enough for all the stuff we need.  i have a separate bottle cooler bag that i use to keep milk in when we go out.  and all my diapering needs, toy/entertainment supplies, and food/milk fits in it nicely.  it will work great for 2 kids.

it's not glamorous but it certainly works! (plus it was free bc i have several of them lol).

  • Keep your eye out for something that's not an actual diaper bag.  I have a huge picnic tote that I got at Sam's Club.  It's plenty big for 2 in cloth and has 8 decent sized pockets all around the outside. It has a cooler compartment inside, but I think it takes up too much valuable real estate in the bag.  A lot of times I put clean/dirty clothes in that compartment and use a separate cooler bag for milk/food.

  • I really like my Mrs. Smith diaper bag.  It's plenty big for two in cloth, has lots of pockets and compartments, a pull out drawer for food items and the straps can be worn shoulder or backpack style - which I love.  It doesn't have a larger cooler compartment, but I usually have a separate one.
  • I hate huge diaper bags and don't know what I'll do when I have 2 in dipes.  I usually just have diapers in the car and also a wetbag in the car.  We do a lot of diaper changes in the car and leave the dirty ones in there.  We only do 3-4 hour outings max though because DS of naptime so its only 1-2 diapers.  Or I just hang my Petunia diaper bag from the stroller handle and then have a wetbag in the bottom of the stroller for the dirty ones.

  • A friend of mine is letting me borrow a bag that she got.  It's meant to be more of a really large purse/small cute gym bag or overnight bag and it's PERFECT.  Sadly, it was only available through Jockey wear salespeople (kind of like a Mary Kay type of thing - parties, etc) and the one they replaced it with isn't quite as cute and costs $90, which despite the fact that it is perfect, just isn't in my budget.

I'd look for something that isn't meant to be a diaper bag but still has a lot of pockets, and a lot of room to expand, etc.

Sorry -  I know that doesn't help much!
