Bumpie With Homemade Crib Rail Guards in Blog?

I remember a bumpie with a blog that had a description of how to make crib rail guards out of fleece? Now I can't find it! Anyone remember who? Thanks in advance!

  • I used this one from Mrs. Donkey a year or two ago and they turned out great.

I know it is not what you are looking for, but I made this one also and I love it!

  • Thanks guys - that looks awesome! I just don't know how to sew really well and don't have a sewing machine! My Mom does, but she is finishing the school year (teacher) and I would rather not bother her with this. Maybe I need to take some classes!? :)
  • It wasn't me but I've made them before.

Really simple, I used a fleece blanket, cut a strip lengthwise, layed it over the crib rail and cut slits inbetween each slat.  Tied the fabric together inbetween each slat.  It works great, really easy, no sew and actually looked pretty cute (had a blanket that matched the bedding colors).

    HTH!

  • I don't know who posted it before but I've done it. Here's what I did:

Get fleece (probably only a yard or so would be fine, maybe a little longer, the length of the long side of your crib)

Drape it over so that it hangs down to about 2 inches below where the bars start. Trim it to that size (should be a long rectangle shape).

Take it off and fold it in half the long way (so it's an even skinnier rectangle)

Cut into the fabric (both layers, on the open side) about 2 inches every inch or so along the long edge. You should have a fringe now of sorts.

Drape it back over the crib and tie each pair of ties together in a double knot between the bars of the crib. You probably have to tie 2 or 3 in between each set of bars.

That's all. Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Thanks Ladies! I think I am just going to go for it and see if I can do it using everyone's instructions! Thankfully she can only chew on the sides of the crib and not the back and front, so I am hoping it isn't too hard to remedy!
