Do people really eat dandelion greens? Like I can just go out in my backyard and clip some dandelion greens that keep popping up all over the lawn and eat them?

I thought eating rose petals was weird the first time I heard of it, but now we're talking about a weed.

I can't help but be a little weirded out.

If the lawn hasn't been treated chemically or used as a dog toilet, knock yourself out. They're kinda spicy. You can cook them like you would spinach or eat them raw.

It's best to eat them before the plant flowers. Once it flowers, the greens tend to get bitter.

Yes people eat them, they also make dandelion soup and dandelion jelly and a bunch of other stuff.

I just tried them about a week ago at a Mediterranean restaurant, they were good. Guess they are suppose to be healthy for you.

don't pick near freeways, telephone poles, railroad tracks or in hellstrips. they're really pretty good! i boil mine once first so they're not as bitter, but the boiling liquid leftover is kind of tasty too. just don't eat too much... they're a serious diuretic.
