Going on Day #4 of Pre-labor (bit of TMI)

This is getting ridiculous...For the past almost-four days, I've been experiencing the joys of pre-labor with little break: random contractions that range from "Oh, that's slightly uncomfortable" to "OMFG MY INSIDES!" that act like they're about to start a pattern, but rarely do for longer than an hour; baby's head sitting so hard on my cervix that I'm too scared to sneeze in fear that she may fall out and take everything with her; loss of mucous plug (second time...lost it at 35 weeks the first time, lost it again last night); the joy of dealing with thick, clear, and mucousy discharge that feels like it has no end; bouncing between wanting to eat every 10 minutes to gagging at the thought of food; also bouncing in between wanting to do a bazillion things or sleeping all day; mood is also bouncing between "Everything is fine" to "HULK SMASH!!" in 1.5 seconds or less; all mixed up with a generous topping of the discomfort of sciatica, sore pelvis, and sinus pressure. I did develop a new symptom today that I can only describe as "feeling odd". Tongue Tied

I've tried walking, which increases the pressure I feel on my cervix like crazy and makes the baby squirm, but nothing. Sex makes me have contractions for about 1-2 hours...and then nothing. What's a girl gotta do to have a baby around here! She was trying so hard to come early only a few weeks ago, and now she's teasing me. Indifferent

I honestly wish that my water would just break just to take all the guesswork out of the equation before my poor husband smothers me in my sleep. Bless his heart, even -I- haven't wanted to deal with me these past four days. LOL

That made me LOL. I did this with my first 3 kids. Long labors suck.

It's horrible! I'm normally a pretty even person, but the past few days have made me feel like I've gone insane. LOL

I hope not! I don't think my poor addled brain can take much more of this. LOL

  • well every little bit of discomfort may be helping the labor process progress, so think that way!!!! i feel your pain, but at least very soon your sweet little baby will be here.   try squats with a fitness ball. i was doing that the day my water broke. who knows if that helped but its worth a shot! (dont do too many tho it will kill your thighs!!)

    Congrats on your LO!

This is true! I'm trying to keep that in mind as much as possible, but the frustration and anticipation makes it so easy to forget that old saying of "no pain, no gain". I'll have to give the ol' exercise ball a try to see if that can help things along. If anything, it'll help me get out some of the pent up energy that I can't spend doing things outside thanks to the storms we've been having.

  • This is exactly how I've been feeling and what I've been going through except for the sex. Just the idea of it makes me cringe.

  • Ugh. Sounds like oh so much fun! I'm sorry your having so much misery. I'm starting to feel a little more miserable myself. But not any where near that point. Hopefully today your water will break and you can be done.

  • I'm right there with you. I've been in "pre-labor" since Friday and it sucks. I was at my NST when it happened and even my OB thought it was the real deal and was getting ready to admit me when everything just magically stopped. I'm okay with it now because I wanted to make it to 37 weeks but after going through 5+ hours of "labor" to only be told it wasn't the real deal made me a cranky lady. After tonight, all bets are off though :) I'm off of bed rest and ready to go :)

I've been pretty lucky when it comes to the libido department throughout this pregnancy. We've had a few good laughs at my expense trying to figure things out when my bump really popped, though. LOL

For the past few days, I just don't have the energy to do anything, let alone even think about sex. Moving from the couch to the kitchen for something to drink is starting to prove to be too much effort lately.

    Hope you feel better!

Oh, I hope so! I'm to the point where I'm not even worried about labor. I just can't wait to meet our LO.

Water and Gatorade/Powerade definitely helps with some of the worse symptoms, I've discovered. It baffles me with how much water I can drink throughout the day and still not be hydrated enough, which leaves me feeling even more wiped out and tired. The electrolytes help give you a boost, but just don't overdo it.

The L&D nurses here know us on a first-name basis now. I went into premature labor not even 2 hours after our last birthing class on April 16th, and the nurse that taught the course ended up being our nurse (the nurse that took over her shift turned out to be our neighbor!). I was in pre-term for 10 hours before they could stop it, which put my happy butt on bed rest until I this week. After that fun little incident, I ended up back in the L&D shortly after that because I was having signs of pre-e...turned out to be nothing, thankfully. And shortly after that, we were right back in because we thought my water had broken. Nope! Baby just made me pee myself. SO embarrassing...Embarrassed

I'm just so ready to not be pregnant anymore, especially at this stage. These past few days have been absolute misery for me. Luckily, my next appt is on Tuesday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all this hasn't been for nothing.

  • Hang in there but I so know how you feel, for about the last 5 days, I'll have hours of contant contractions then after getting 5m apart for a while, they go away, so annoying... And yes walking is a pain but I've been trying to do it myself to speed up labor. I'm trying to walk, do acupressure, eat foods that are "supposed" to help labor along, but nothing is working so far, I just keep getting annoying contractions that eventually subside.
