Slightly confused about cycle days :(

My idea of cycle day one has always been the day AF starts. My doctor wrote for the Femara to be taken day 3-7 which would mean starting today.

I also just bought the CBFM. The instruction manual says that if AF starts during the day, then program the monitor to call the NEXT morning cycle day 1. That would mean starting the Femara tomorrow.

I know this is probably not a huge deal, right? Just stop overthinking it? I am so nervous about the whole thing, timing ovulation and starting progesterone, etc. I don't want to do this any more months than necessary so I would like to do it right.  Any thoughts?

Re: Slightly confused about cycle days :(

  • This isn't a stupid question as I asked my RE. She said AF had to arrive before noon and then that was cd1. If it arrived after that the next day was cd1. Mine however always startes in the early am so first day of bleading was cd1.

  • Oh my goodness, I can't remember what time it started. Oy vey.

ETA: Ok, I emailed DH at 12:30  right after it started (it was late this cycle), so it was probably after noon.

  • I agree with Libby that you're okay either way, but I was told to count CD1 as the first day of full flow (vs. spotting).

  • That's what I did. I figure there's a range of taking Femara anyway, so day 2-3 is fine. I want it to be out of my system sooner rather than later.
