Z is almost 1 and doesn't want to eat table food. Unless it's crunchy ie: puffs, veggie stix from TJ's, cherrios, kix, etc. He will eat French fries and sometimes peices of pancake. Is this normal? Should I still start him on cows milk? His 1 year appointment isn't or another 3 weeks so I have a while before I can ask his pedi.
Re: Not interested in table food?
G is 20 months old and still nurses more than she eats food. She asks for stuff but has little interest in eating it
I wouldn't cry if she decided to eat more, lol.
I'm voting for normal.

Some people have the theory that kids who have late interest in food are actually following some kind of biological instinct to avoid foods that would be allergens. If that makes you feel better.
If you're nursing, there's no need to hurry into cow's milk. DD wouldn't have it at all until recently--now she loves it all of a sudden. But she always loved cheese, sour cream, yogurt, etc. If you're formula feeding, you probably want to save some money already!
LLL has a nice way of thinking about solid food: it's our responsibility as parents to offer healthy choices; it's our children's prerogative to pick and choose among them. I wouldn't rush it, in other words, if you want your child to have a healthy relationship to eating (not too much, the right stuff). You might try a few more things that you think your LO will like, but don't kill yourself about it. Lots of kids wait to seriously eat solids. It's fine.
