Virus, possibly?

Just wondering if anyone else's DC has a rash causing virus?  DD has had intermittent hives and angry red rashes for two days.  I cannot pinpoint any possible allergy or cause.  She also has a runny nose and some sneezing.  The rash is my concern.  It looks like an angry area of red raised hives.  They go away in an hour without meds, but the look awful.  What is going around right now?

I think allergy testing (God love her) is in our very near future.  This one just does not present like an allergy.

  • Oh, that doesn't sound fun. Have you called the pedi? Have they mentioned if anything similar is going around, right now? I hope B is feeling better, soon.

  • My son has been having the same thing here and there in the last few weeks.  Add itchy, red eyes which is what made me think it is some sort of seasonal allergy?  I thought it might be heat rash or sunblock but it has happened more than once with two different types of sunblock/sunscreen.  His hives are in little splotches and like you said, go away in about an hour.  It is so frustrating not knowing what it is or what is causing it.
  • Thanks, ladies.  I know it is pointless to go to the pedi if you suspect a virus, so we will watch her for a few days.    We still have random hives today, so I think she does have some funk going on.  I really dont want allergy testing until she is over 4, but it looks like it might be on the horizon.  She is a hot flipping mess these days.  But the rash is definitely not allergy.
