If you have a negative Rh factor...

what problems do you think will happen with the second pregnancy? I had to have the RhoGAM shot 3x while I was pregnant with Aditya. I had spotting around 6 weeks, so they gave me a shot to be safe. I'm just wondering if the second pregnancy would be harder since there is already a small tolerance to the RhoGAM...?

Re: If you have a negative Rh factor...

  • I wondered the same thing.

I had 1 shot before DD was born and 1 have since she is A+ blood type.

When we tried again I had a C/P the first time I got pregnant.

Then I got pregnant (this time) and had no spotting or anything for 20+wks now. So far so good!

I keep meaning to ask my dr if I need to get another shot this pregnancy.

  • I don't really know  but it is semi-common so I would assume its no big deal unless you have had previous problems. BUT in the paper work I received for the shot post delivery, it said that it was good for a year. If you have had problems I would think you could get another booster while TTC. ???

  • I had to have the shot while pregnant with DS, but not after he was born because he has my blood type.

I then had a miscarriage, and they gave me one at the first doc appt I had for my miscarriage. But they also did some kind of immuno something or other to make sure that the miscarriage didn't cause any problems with my blood or whatever.

I am now almost 26 weeks with my 3rd pregnancy and everything is fine. I will have the shot at my next appt.

  • I had one shot after m/c before I got pregnant with DD.

Shot at 28 weeks with DD.

DD is O- so no need for shot after birth

I got pregnant with DS when DD was 6 months old.

Shot at 28 weeks with DS.

DS is also O- so no need for shot after birth.

  • I got the RhoGAM shot with both pregnancies, they were 6 years apart, and DH has posi blood.

  • I have no idea but will do some research and might get back to this post if I find out anything.  Like OP I had a big bleed at 6 weeks so I had a shot then the normal 2 you get then the 1 after she was born as our bloods really were different  so I had a total of 4 shots.

  • I had to get the shot at 28 weeks and then the day after DD was born. I'm O-, shes b+, (I think, I'd have to check) either way I know its +.  So, as far as I know, I'll have to get the shot(s) again, because DH is + so chances are the next lo would be + as well.

I'm wondering though, were any of your babies jaundice?

  • Mine wasn't and I had 3 of the shots while pregnant.  DDs billi numbers were fantastic actually so she was far from jaundice.
