I've heard that when you start weaning, it's best to wear a tight bra that really sucks you in right? I've been looking around, but I'm clueless. I'm thinking a sports bra that covers a lot, with not too much stretch. Should it be too small?
I was a B pre pregnancy, D when my milk came in, and somewhere around a C now.
Re: Special bra for weaning?
I saw a compression bra on sale on Zulily just the other day. It was for weaning. Sold by mamadoc. Not sure if you really need to buy a specific bra.
I slowly weaned with DS1 and never needed anything different. I think slow and gradual is the key.
Ok well I was planning on doing it in about a month from start to finish. Does that sound like enough time that it wouldn't be an issue? That would be great!
Same. I needed to wean due to multiple clogs with my last one going on 72 hours with no release of milk. I needed something soft, but firm. Cabbage leaves helped!!!
I cut out all pumping sessions first (during work) and one feeding. I weaned fast. I think it took 2 weeks from start to finish due to switching back to the combination pill, using cabbage leaves and sudafed. I still leaked for a month.
I think you will be ok weaning over the course of a month. The only problem I had was that at the end I thought I was completely done (as in not making any milk) and ended up needing to buy a manual pump while traveling one weekend to relieve the pressure. I only pumped an ounce or two and that was it. No more after that!
My doctor said you shouldn't compress your breasts when they are full it can increase your chances of blocked ducts.
I went really slowly when I weened (I would pump for just a few minutes to release the pressure) and it really didn't take very long at all before I didn't need to feed or pump at all. I went very slow at first, I think when I got serious about it, it took 2 weeks.
