Parenting after a Loss

I decided to give it a go at bfing when I'm back to work

Even though I've struggled so much with the bfing, I'm not ready to give it up yet.

And even though my office is really not conducive to pumping since we have no fridge and I walk a mile each way to and from work, I'm going to give it a shot.

We'll see how long this lasts, but I just can't give it up without at least giving it a shot.

I go back to work in a week and my supervisor found me an unused conference room that I can use to pump.

Especially when I'm come this far with the bfing...I've managed to wean B down to about 5 oz of formula a day, which is huge given we started with her taking up to 18 of formula a day at the height of my issues.

  • Good for you! I'm not going to lie, there are days it sucks balls. But its also nice to sit and have time each day to look at S's pictures and then read my book-ignoring the fact that I'm hooked up like a dairy cow anyway.  And if you hate it, you know  you tried and that's all you need to know.

  • Good for you!  It's not easy at the beginning but it will get more routine.  I have one pump in the office and one at home - that helps a lot since I walk and take 2 trains.
  • Good for you. I hope it goes well.

  • That's great!!  I pumped in my boss's office for 9 months.  It sucks, but it was great for DD.

  • That's awesome! ?I did the same thing with DS - I never thought I'd continue BFing when I returned to work, but I wasn't ready to give it up and ended up pumping until DS was 10 months. ?Hope you have lots of success. ?

  • Good luck!  I have to admit, I've kind of slacked off since I've been at work.  I started out pumping 3x a day, and then it was 2x and now it's basically 1x.  I have no obstacles (my own office) and we have a fridge.  But I find myself getting wrapped up in my day and then my pumping time has come and gone.  My goal was to make it until 6 months...we'll see.

Definitely get yourself a hands-free bra if you haven't already.  I have a Simple Wishes bra and it allows me to continue working while pumping.
