wwyd re hives

Wes has a huge hive on his thigh, and one on his arm that's come and gone twice today. We used a wool diaper cover for the first time last night, and that's the only thing I can think that would cause it. He had a bath at noon, and no more contact with the wool since 9 am. It's 4 now. I made a dr appt for an hour from now, but I think I might be overreacting. Would you just give benedryl or take him to the Dr, or do nothing?

Re: wwyd re hives

  • I would give him some benadryl and see how it goes.  As long as he's not having any breathing issues at all and it goes away, I'd just say it's the wool diaper and not worry.

I wouldn't do anything unless there was some other issue.

  • Thanks ladies. This was one of those experience I didn't have under my belt yet. We kept the Dr. appt because I figured it was only going to put me out my $10 copay and give me some reassurance that benedryl was the answer. Which, in fact, it was what she suggested. Hasn't knocked him on his butt yet, and hopefully it won't make him hyper. Plus while we were there she got a weight check so we don't have to go back in two weeks as planned.

  • Benadryl for sure.  I would give him a dose.  If it doesn't go away give the doc a call.
