Another FFFC

I am totally mortified to admit this, but Ellie still has her binky.  For a long time she really only used it at nap and bedtime, but sometime during the period I was pregnant with Noah she started wanting it all the time.  I try to remember to get it away from her before we go anywhere in public, but I don't fight her for it so sometimes she has it.

I know it's ridiculous at her age but I am honestly dreading taking it away.  I know the longer I wait the worse it will be.  I should have done it when she was way younger but I didn't and then with Noah coming along, we did some travel in the summer, we switched her to her big girl bed and new room, and then potty training, it just seemed like the lowest priority of all the life changes we had to impose on her.

Anyway, I am totally embarrassed that she still has it.  We have bought a couple books about giving up the paci and have started reading them every couple of nights, so we'll see if that helps at all.

    Awww!  No shame in that, she'll give it up when she's ready.

    Ellie has gone through a lot of changes in the past couple of years.  It sounds like the binky has really helped her cope with them all.  Like pp said, she will give it up when she is ready.
    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

    Don't worry about it.  She will give it up.  Maybe you could do a slow transition.  You can negotiate that she always leaves it in her bed or only in the house or car, but not anywhere else.  We started that way with out paci addict and it worked for us.  We gave her a lot of warning before we took it away for real.  Good luck.
