Another reason to have a med-free birth

Just got the bill for my epidural -- $200. Ouch.

Oh well. It was worth it.

Lucky. Mine was $4,000 (yowza!), so they covered most of it, but I still have this leftover to pay.

  • At that moment, when I was in pain, I didn't care how much the epidural cost!! Lol

If it makes you feel any better, I paid $200 (non-refundable) in my first pregnancy to rent a birth tub to try and have a natural birth, and I still ended up with an epidural.

  • I would gladly spend the money again to be out of med-free contraction hell.

I paid for a birthing center (over 4000) but was transferred to a hospital during labor. Those bills are at about 15,000... Sorry, but I can't imagine complaining about $200.

  • The hospital charged my insurance company $2,700 just for the epidural and it didn't even work!  I felt everything, even the thread pulling through my lady bits as the Dr was sewing me up.

I should totally ask for a refund...

  • I had a c/s and got the bill from the hospital a couple weeks ago...$10,000.  Most of that was just for the room I stayed in for 3 days.  Luckily insurance covered most of it.

  • I look at the bright side, my year to date has been fulfilled.  Any other visits that I have to a dr for the rest of the year is covered by my insurance.  Because of being fulfilled my IUD was completely covered.

  • That's all you have to pay for?  Even going med-free, I still had a $2,000 deductible...

  • Oye. I was kidding people. And, yes, that was just the epidural. The cost of my birth (out of pocket) was $2,000 -- my yearly max. They billed my insurance over $12k, and my son's NICU bills were $80,000.
